Goodbye Bernie, my mate and my hero

A Day in the Life Add comments

I’m extremely proud Bernie Banton referred to me as a mate. But to me he was more than a mate, he was a hero. Equipped with a sardonic wit and a determination to see justice done he led the greatest fight against a corporate giant in Australia’s history. Here is a link to my tribute to this great man and my last video interview with him.

Bernie Banton was more than a hero, he was an inspiration to the working class!
For a man to continue fighting for his rights on his deathbed epitomises the aussie battler.

People should gain some confidence from this to stand up for their rights.

This story SHOULD be bigger than Erin Brokovich in the states. While its still relatively low key, it will grow momentum.

I think one of the most important things to acknowledge is that without the union movement Bernie would never have been as successful as he was…Does that mean all those people who are virulently anti-union but pro bernie should shut up?…..I don’t know.
